Mesh base

Mesh base: a durable choice

Mesh bases are made of metal, a durable material which is also affordable. The lifespan of a mesh base is at least 20 years, which is longer than most bed bases on the market. The solid construction gives mesh bases a fine and sleek linear design.

The development of the mesh base

In the past, mesh bases were stretched lengthwise. This meant that the metal braiding was attached to the head and foot end, and the mesh spanned 2 metres or more. As a result, over time, the bed had to withstand too much force and the mesh base could start sagging, which is also known as the ‘hammock effect’.

Today, this has been solved by means of a transverse mesh base that is anchored in the metal side beams.

Multiple motors

Manually or electrically adjustable mesh bases are very popular nowadays. By stretching the mesh base transversely, several rotation points can be created to adjust the entire bed.

You can raise the section at your knees, back or head, often be with an electric remote control. If you have a TV in your bedroom, or if you would like to read a book, you can do this ergonomically and comfortably.

Electric vs. non-electric mesh bases

The non-electric models are the flat and the manually adjustable mesh base. The basic electrically adjustable models have 1 motor. They have an electrically adjustable backrest and a manually adjustable foot end.

The 2-motor model also has an electric foot section, the 3-motor model has an electric neck section and there are even 5-motor mesh bases.
