Why steam bedding and clothes?

Steaming bedding and clothes has the same effect as airing them, but it works much faster and more efficiently. The hot steam (97-99°C) of a steamer reduces bad smells, eliminates many bacteria and removes superficial dirt. The steam makes the textile fibres swell up, restoring their natural shape and keeping the textile wrinkle-free. The fabric will also feel thicker and the colours will look shinier and more intense than when you iron. Steaming is not only a gentle way to care for all kinds of fabrics, it is also an easier and more sustainable option than ironing.

A hand-held steam steamer is a great product to freshen up your garments or bedding in between washes. Ideal for when you don't have a lot of time and you are in a rush to get out the door in the morning, for example.

But a steamer is not for bedding and clothing only. You can also perfectly use it on other textiles in your home. Make a habit of steaming all your home textiles once in a while. You can save money (and protect the environment!) by steaming your carpet yourself instead of taking it to a dry cleaner. You can also easily steam your sofa, headboard or curtains. Use an extension cord and a ladder if necessary, and your curtains will look brand-new without the need to remove them.
